Are you looking for a safe space to gain the support and help that counseling can provide? Sandra Bednarz is a licensed counselor with eight years of experience who specializes in helping individuals ages 18 and older with trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress management, and women’s issues. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University and her doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision at Northern Illinois University.
Sandra feels strongly that her clients do not need to be “fixed” but rather provided with empathy, understanding, collaboration, and additional resources and support to help them grow. This belief lends to her wellness approach to counseling, focusing on the whole person by identifying strengths and wants, while also helping clients with the current problems they are experiencing. Understanding the importance of the counseling relationship, Sandra works collaboratively with her clients to provide an accepting and safe place for growth and healing.
It is very important to Sandra to ensure that she is the “right fit” for her clients, and she will assess this in the first session with transparency and clear communication. Based on her experience that there is not a “one-size-fits all” approach, she utilizes an integrative treatment approach in counseling. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
When she’s not counseling and facilitating growth and healing with her clients, Sandra enjoys playing board games, collecting coffee mugs, and building Lego sets.
