Introducing our therapist, Matt Giffin, who specializes in working with individuals aged 14 through 50 years old. He earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary and is currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Matt has experience helping clients overcome a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, life changes/adjustments, men’s issues, religious/spiritual, and stress management.
Matt became a therapist because of his desire to serve in a helping profession and interest in the field of psychology. He draws his inspiration from his own family’s struggles with mental health and prefers working with young adults, particularly those who are seeking help with issues related to the LGBTQ+ community or processing spiritual issues/questions. In therapy, he strives to strike a balance between the person-centered/narrative approach and the evidence-based approach of CBT/ACT. Matt believes in empowering his clients and helping them understand themselves as the experts of their own journey.
When not working, you will typically find Matt spending time with his partner, watching TV, seeking out new restaurants, going to the theater to see movies, doing a puzzle/playing a board game with friends (big fan of Villainous, Tortuga, and most card games) and excelling at pop culture trivia, consistently impressing his friends. Cultivating therapeutic relationships based on deep empathy, reliability and purpose comes naturally to Matt. His experience as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, coupled with education and training in Christian/faith-based settings, provides him with a unique perspective and empathetic approach that is well suited to this niche of clients.
